Happy Birthday to you!

It seems that I now blog only when I have a finished item to show you…but I guess that’s better than not blogging at all. Next Sunday is one of my bestest friend’s birthday. She will be 22. She and I became friends a few years ago at a summer conservatory, and have been nearly inseparable since. We graduated together, and now we rent an apartment together because we’re too poor to each rent alone. My friend is auditioning in New England in just about 2 weeks and is worried about the super cold weather there. And for good reason: I don’t think she has an ounce of fat on her! She asked me to knit her a hat for her birthday – we lose a huge percentage of body heat through our heads. So we went to the store and found a yummy yarn, and then I looked on Ravelry for the perfect hat. Let me tell you, that was a search! To find something the right gauge, not to frilly, but not too plain either, something that would keep my interest and that she would be able to wear on the most mundane of occasions. Well, we finally found the perfect hat: The Mochi Chunky Chevron Hat. This hat was a quick, fun knit in chunky yarn (in Lion Brand USA). It will keep her warm for a good long time and provide a pop of colour in her life. Happy birthday, dear.
