Yesterday morning I found myself in a surprising and terrifying place: a place without knitting. I scrounged around for needles and yarn and a pattern, but my hopeful plans were dashed several times. My relief was palpable once I started pulling string through loops. These tiny baby booties for an expectant coworker took just long enough for my husband to bring me the project I forgot at home.
What do you do when you don’t have access to knitting?
It’s just not a conceivable idea to be without a project! I take one everywhere except work. (When I’m there I’m too busy and just need to be in the zone!) My dh jokes about my inability to leave the house without yarn!
I’m with you on that!
It feels really strange to be without knitting, or a project on the needles. I am not sure how I would cope. I have a project that travels in my bag with me everywhere, so I haven’t had it happen. But what’s ALMOST worse is when I have my knitting, and for some reason or other, can’t knit on it. Like at a meeting where the facilitator asks me not to (I always ask permission, and they nearly always say sure, but now and then – !) I doodle through pages and pages of paper trying to keep my fingers busy.
It’s such a helpless feeling. Knitting is how we cope in so many situations!
