I’ve had a wood burner for over a year now, and yet I have somehow managed to not burn any wood. So I searched around for a suitable branch, whittled and sanded it down, and burned magic spells into it.
I had a lot of fun, and when I was done my hands had a delicious woodsmoke smell.
I have a bad case of startitis. But I’m trying to be good and not cast on ALL the things. Just some of them. My husband and I watched a documentary on minilamism recently, and it made me think about all the things I have that I don’t use. So I pulled this skirt out of my closet to rework as a tunic. I love the skirt, but I rarely wear it, and a tunic is much more realistic for my lifestyle. (Pattern adapted from Alabama Studio Sewing + Design)
I needed some thread and binding to start/finish this project, so I went to my local fabric and craft store and fell down the rabbit hole. I have plans to make a project bag from these.
Making doesn’t just have to be crafting. My husband and I made the most delicious chocolate mousse (recipe courtesy of the Joy of Cooking, of course).
And here we are in all our mustachioed glory.
It’s Christmas Eve and I am knitting for me. It’s glorious. No deadlines. No weeping softly as I try to weave in ends and block handknits before gifts are given tomorrow. I should do this every year.
I’m knitting Favorki by Agata Skektala out of my own handspun. This yarn is so round and soft and alive! I love it! It’s knitting up into the most touchable fabric. I’m learning to be a better cable knitter..slowly but surely. The last time I cabled was just after I learned to knit, and cables have scared me ever since. So this is the project that will (hopefully) teach me to love cables. Because I really want this hat.

So Nerdy! Made of heavy-duty fabric. This bag will stand the test of time. I’m beginning a collection of nerdy project bags.

Between 12 hours of Lord of the Rings extended the other day and trying to finish the Harry Potter books before I go back to school, my brain is a bit fried. 🙂
