I have been interested in designing since I started knitting 5 years ago. I have recently started dipping my toes into the design pool, but I would never quite finish a pattern. I got scared: What if I’m not doing it right? What if no one likes my patterns? What if I make a horrible error in the pattern and screw up some poor unsuspecting knitter for life?? Doubts and fears can be good things, but at some point you have to grab life by the horns and just do something. So that’s what I’ve done. Here is my first published knitting pattern. It is a simple lace headband – bold enough to stand on its own, but light enough to wear even on a hot summer day.

I hope you are having a lovely Valentine’s day!
Today I am swatching for socks.
I’m knitting on this hat.
And I just finished this headband (I’m thinking about writing it up as my first published pattern!)
What are you doing this Valentine’s Day?
I listed 3 things today in the shop! I think that’s gotta be a personal record. There are 2 new headbands similar to the one from yesterday (one green with pink detailing and one lace), and a hemp bracelet. When I was in my teens I made hemp macrame bracelets, necklaces, and anklets by the dozen. It turns out I still remember how to do it 🙂
I’ve been working on a few new ideas for the shop recently, experimenting with different articles and techniques. So hopefully I will have several new things to show you next week. But I do have one new item to show you: a Minnie Mouse Headband! I wore this to work the other day and was given so many compliments. Once coworker even called me Minnie! She was my favourite when I was a little girl.
In other news, this is my 200th post. Thank you to everyone who has ever read or followed my blog. You’ve made a difference in my life. I hope I’ve been able to brighten your day for the last 2 years.
